Appeal following damage to ancient monument

We’re appealing for information following damage to a protected ancient monument near Wrexham.

It’s reported that electric bikes were ridden on the remains of the motte and bailey castle found within the grounds at Erddig Hall on 10 April, causing damage to the structure.

PC Dave Allen from the Rural Crime Team said: “The individuals who rode electric bikes in this area did not seek permission from the landowner and have also committed heritage crime offences.

“The remains of the castle are designated by CADW for their historical value and to protect them for future generations.
